Misfortune is a large ceramic fortune cookie that has been broken and stitched back together with red thread. The cracks remain visible, and the uneven stitches follow the broken edges of the form. Rather than hiding the damage, the repair becomes the most noticeable part of the piece.

I often feel that this identity has been broken into different parts, and the act of stitching the ceramic together reflects my desire to repair it. However, the object does not return to its original condition. The gaps and cracks remain, suggesting that repair does not always mean becoming whole again.
